“In regards to native women in film & television – we do not exist, that is clear when watching prime-time television in front of or behind the camera, and in films as well, there have only been 5 contemporary American Indian women stories ever produced in film history in the United States, “A Girl Called Hatter Fox” C.B.S. 1977 – starring Joanelle Romero (this was the first contemporary American Indian Women story produced and the first time an American Indian woman carried a leading role ); “Lakota Woman” Ted Turner TNT 1994 starring Irene Bedard; “Naturally Native” in 1998 starring Valerie Redhorse; “Imprint” in 2007 starring Tonantzin Carmelo and the newly feature film “Cherokee Word for Water” 2014 starring Kimberly Guerrero Which sends the message to the world and most importantly that native women and girls don’t matter. Having been in the business show business for over 40 years now and having starred in some of the most critically acclaimed tv (A Girl Called Hatter Fox) and film (Pow Wow Highway) — I am standing strong and making a difference in this way, join us March 25-29, 2015 for our Native Women in Film & Television Film Festival in Beverly Hills CA. ‪#‎NativeWomenRISE‬ ‪#‎NativeWomenMATTER‬
